Kansas City Style BBQ Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 2 heaping cups ketchup
  • 1/4 cup white wine vinegar
  • 1 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 1/4 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 molasses
  • 4 tsp liquid smoke
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp celery salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp black pepper

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in one large pot, and bring to a boil.

Bourbon Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp molasses
  • 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp grain mustard
  • 1 1/2 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 3/4 tsp black pepper

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients on the stove, and bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat to a simmer, and cook until sauce starts to thicken and all ingredients are well blended together. The sauce should reduce to around 2 cups. This may take 20-30 minutes.
